Freedom's Last Breath
The two character play, Freedom’s Last Breath, written by Jackie Marx, is short and to the point. It examines the societal conflict between the combatant and the citizen.
Freedom’s Last Breath was chosen by the Dramatists Guild of America for the New Works Festival (Phoenix). The staged reading was directed by Charles St. Clair. The Soldier was played by Gregory Alkema, the Citizen by Daniel Peverini.
When war threatens, SOLDIER readies his weapon;
CITIZEN draws the proverbial line in the sand, in protest.

That Last Journey
I have not walked this road before
yet know each rut and rise
My trials give me second sight
I do not travel blindly
into the eye of brilliant light
enveloped by the essence
in the afterlife with full release
of my happy humbled spirit
In memory of my sister, Sharon, who left this earth on August 11, 1991.

Safe House Rewrite
As I mentioned in a previous post, my one act stage play, Safe House, has been doing well in contests, but remains a bridesmaid. The Pittsburgh critiques were mailed to me. One judge felt Safe House was ready to walk down the aisle (I was excited to hear that!), two judges didn't. I decided to concentrate on what the two naysayers had to say. I totally agree with their assessment! and have rewritten the play with their criticisms in mind. Also, I added one new character and simplified the plot line. So, I will be sending Safe House out soon to other theaters. We'll see.

Safe House
My stage play, Safe House, made it to the final round of the Pittsburgh New Works Festival . This is the third time it has gotten this far in a festival. So, maybe, it just needs a little something?????
